Department of microbiology

1. INTRODUCTION WITH PHOTOGRAPHS OF DEPARTMENT:

Since the establishment of microbiology department in 1990 it is actively involved in teaching microbiology to II MBBS students. After few years teaching activities are extended to train Dental as well as B Sc. Nursing students. In 2009 PG. course for MD Microbiology also started in the department.
Undergraduate teaching activities include lectures, tutorials, practical demonstration, seminars and integrated teaching sessions for II MBBS students.
Postgraduates are usually self-learners. But various activities such as seminars, tutorials, journalclub presentations, practical demonstrations, etc.are also conducted in the department.

Undergraduate programs forMBBS, BDS, B Sc Nursing.
Postgraduate programsfor MD Microbiology.

3. FACILITIES:

Department of microbiology is established as per the guidelines of MCI:
• Laboratories (7 in number) such as Bacteriology, Serology, Immunology, Virology, Mycology, Parasitology, Tuberculosis. All laboratories are well equipped.
• Museum displaying instruments, specimens, sample of vaccines, photographs,charts, museum catalogues and also has sitting capacity for 25-30 students.
• Practical hall with equipments, staining facilities and sitting capacity for 50-60 students.
• Demonstration hall with sitting capacity of 80 students.
• Departmental library /seminar hall with availability of 83 books.
• Research laboratory with equipment.
• Staff room for non- teaching staff.
• Cabins for professor and Hod, Associate professor, Assistant professor and tutors.
